American Heart Association
This site contains health tools such as health assessment, BMI calculator, and patient fact sheets, more. The healthy lifestyle link contains diet and nutrition info, cholesterol facts, women and cardiovascular disease, how the heart works, more. Links to Heart and Stroke Encyclopedia, science and professional articles, diseases and conditions of the heart, children and heart diseases, health, exercise, and protection. Also listed is AHA’s famous Low Calorie Cookbook. On this page of the AHA site there are several more sites to explore. The Circulation Journal Report has two articles of interest: ‘inflammation marker signals stroke risk’, and ‘diabetic women gain significant benefits from eating fish’. The American Stroke Association updates urgent stroke care guidelines. Links for patients and families include helpful sheets for talking to your doctor about your health. For health professionals there is a video pediatric ALS course to teach resusitation of infants, and a video of a child’s heart transplant.
